Drew is a 1 yr 3 mos old Chocolate Lab. He came into the program on 7-26-17. If you are interested in Drew after his training, please contact his rescue Lab Rescue LRCP at firstname.lastname@example.org
Week 1. Drew is a happy go lucky dog who knows nothing about manners or the basics of leash walking, crate, sit, leave it and recall. So far he seems to be catching on really fast. Drew has no reactivity to either people or dogs and shows no signs of resource guarding. He appears to have quickly bonded with his handler and won't let him out of his signt.
Week 2. Drew is all lab and loves to play fetch, being pet all the time and eat treats whenever he can get them. Drew is actually very obedient and resonds to his ques very well. He worked with 3 different handlers this week and all pretty much say the same thing. One of the handlers says he can be stubborn :-) Comments from his primary handlers says things have improved a lot once he understood this inmate was his handler. He follows him wherever he goes and his recall is very good. He is extremely ball motivated so his handler is using that for training purposes and only occasionally uses treats. This week Drew did show some signs of resource guarding of his ball so that is the main thing the handler wants to address before moving on to the basics. His handler says he's about 75% there regarding his good manners. Sometimes he needs a soft touch on the rump to make him understand that means sit. He still needs to conquer all his good manners, but he such a fun dog with an enormous about of energy.
