Max is a 2 year old male lab mix. If you would be interested in adopting Max after he has completed his training, please contact his Rescue, Lab Rescue LRCP at www.labrescue.org.
Week 1. Max is a good dog that seriously lacks manners. He is easily distrated. He likes to play with the other dogs but has a tendency to want to hump them and play bite. He loves to chew on his leash :-) He has a very high PLAY (not prey) drive. His first week he chewed both his crate bed and leash. But he is such a sweetheart. He will learn good manners here :-)
Week 2. Max is a fun-loving dog. He just wants to play all day. He will jump on people and play nip to get attention. However, his handler states he will listen if you call his name and tell him to sit. He's a very high energy dog. He still loves to chew anything and everything! His manners are getting better, but he still likes to jump in the air and play nips when outside to get you to chase him.
Week 3. Max is a fun-loving, high energy dog. He loves people but is still learning not to jump on them. He's a typical fun-loving lab!!
Week 4. Max is like a happy bull in a china shop! He has so much energy and is so playful, he sometimes just can't contain himself. His handler is still working on Max's jumping and mouthing of people. He thinks he is a lap dog. He is starting to do better paying attention to his handler. This is a big step for such a wild and crazy boy like Max. His happiness is contagious!! He gets along extremely well with both people and dogs. He will not react to a dog which may growl at him. Right now, the one thing that Max is really great at is playing. But he and his handler are starting to work at a team, He is a big ball of lab energy. But he is showing progress, and that is the best part of him being in this program. He's a young dog who has had no previous training, structure or boundaries. But now he is showing he can learn.
Week 5/6/7/8. Max is continuing to show progress. He's like a puppy in an adult dog's body. He has never-ending energy that he absolutely needs to burn off. He loves playing with the other dogs (albeit sometimes too rough for them). He also loves people, but he;s still learning not to mouth hands. Max is showing improvement with his leash walking. Max is a true example of a puppy who became an adult with no rules or boundaries. He's a lovable, goofy lab with tons of energy!!
Week 9. Max is slowly but surely learning how to behave as an adult dog. He's so full of energy and just loves to play with people and the other dogs. He's still trying to master his leash walking. He is a wonderful, happy and loving boy who just needs to learn how to control his love of life! The female dogs (Dorey and Mea) have taught him to tone down how rough he plays with them (they are great teachers and he has really learned from them).
