Nala;is a 6 yr. old female Chow mix who arrived 2-13-19. If you would be interested in adopting Nala, please contact Linda Domer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-800-6012
Week 1/2. Nala is a very sweet and loving dog. When she arrived she was extremely fearful and shy. She is showing improvement but very slowly. Right now her handler is just trying to get her to relax and enjoy human contact. She is responding to her handler's love, care and trust. She has started to respond to her name and making eye contact and responding to people other than her handler. She has clearly bonded with her handler. She responds best to slow and gentle contact and is starting to approach other people. She already will sit and is showing progress with loose leash walking. She also allowed Isabella the pup to jump up and lay beside her. She is going to need some time but already she is showing herself to be a very sweet and gentle girl. The fact that she is already trusting her handler is a very good sign of progress.
Week 3/4. Nala is showing great progress trusting people. She is gaining confidence and now walks around with her tail up (not tucked). Her whole demeanor is noticeably starting to change from a severely frightened dog to a more trusting and social dog. Her true personality is starting to show, and she is a very sweet, loving girl. Nala is starting to interact with the other dogs, and is wanting to explore new things. Last week she actually ran up to Teddy and initiated play time. She is also coming out of the cell on her own and roaming the tier without having her handler beside her. This is HUGE for our girl!! She is truly learning that life AND people can be good!
