Zeus is a 2 yr old Husky. He arrived from SC on 6-28-17. If you are interested in adopting Zeus when he finishes his training, contact Suzanne at his Rescue, Dogs Deserve Better at http://ddbnova.org/adopt/available-dogs/ or email@example.com.
Week 1. Zeus is friendly but is very sensitive to people touching him. He is extremely friendly with other dogs. He does not like to be by himself but always wants to be with another dog. So far he has not exhibited any resource guarding issues. He's still getting used to his new environment.
Week 2. Zeus is starting to relax a little and let people other than his handler touch him. This week while I was there I let hhim smell me, put my hand down and let him continue to smell, then scratched his under the chin, and eventually he let me pet his head and whole body. All within 1 hour. He truly loves other dogs and is in his element with them. His fear of people is still very strong, but with patience and love, I think he will eventually learn to trust that no one is going to hurt him.
Week 3. Zeus is still nervous around people but is progressing. He is extremely friendly with all the dogs and would rather be with them. He absolutely does not like to be by himself and wants to interact with all the dog. He most certainly would have to go to a home with another dog. He has exhibited no resource guarding issue. With regards to his cues/commands, he knows sit, down, wait and leash-walking. I think with more exposure to people his fear will slowly fade away.
Week 4. Zeus is really progressing and so much less fearful of people. He does not try to run away from people anymore nor is he shy or afraid of people He knows most of his commands/cues sit, down, wait, leash walking and loose leash walking. His progress is amazing. He now understands people aren't there to hurt him. And he ADORES all the dogs. We strongly suggest he go to a home with another dog
